Coldplay will be releasing their first film/live album in nine years on November 20. The album, “Live 2012,” documents the band’s world tour, “Mylo Xyologo.” Directed by Paul Dugdale, the album includes footage from Coldplay’s shows at Montreal’s Bell Centre, the U.K.’s Glastonbury Festival and Paris’ Stade de France.
“The Mylo Xyloto tour has been the most fun we’ve ever had as a band,” exclaimed Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin. “It’s felt very uplifting right from the start; partly because we are proud of the music, the LED wristbands, the pyrotechnics, the lasers and all of that stuff, but mainly because of the amazing audiences that we’ve been playing for. Over the years, our crowd has become more and more a part of the concert itself. They’re loud, diverse, full of soul, and make the songs sound much better than we can on our own. We wanted to try to bottle the incredible feeling that they give us, and hence our concert film.”
“Live 2012″ will be released by EMI on CD/DVD, Blu-ray/CD, DVD/CD and digitally. It is available to preorder now. The album will have 15 tracks including hits like “Viva La Vida,” “Fix You,” and “Us Against The World.” The DVD version will include three extra tracks.

The wait is finally over. Coldplay’s fifth full-length studio album Mylo Xyloto just dropped in stores, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Industry sources estimate the album will sell at least 440,000-450,000 copies by the end of the week. Mylo Xyloto is Coldplay’s third No. 1 album following 2005′s X&Y and 2008′s Viva La Vida Or Death and All His Friends.
The band recently revealed three UK tour dates in London, Manchester and Glasgow, and also an additional six dates across Europe. Lead singer Chris Martin has said that the group is still deciding on whether to continue touring over in the U.S. or not.
“We’re probably going to take a holiday, get all fat and open a strip club. Either that or we’ll play lots of shows,” Martin told KRQQ Radio. “We don’t know, we’re still having that discussion. It depends whether our hips can stand the pressure.”
Coldplay has recently made their return to the big stage official, revealing nine concert dates scheduled in the UK and mainland Europe this December. This past Friday Coldplay released the single “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall” in anticipation for their upcoming fifth studio album. Fans have been waiting patiently since the band’s last project Viva La Vida dominated the charts in 2008. Bassist Guy Berryman expects the album to drop in stores sometime this fall.
“We’ve already got lists of song ideas,” he said in a recent interview. “We never stop writing. We go into the studio with all the best laid plans then what we end up with is not what we intended. It’s just exciting to wonder what will come out the speakers in a year’s time. We have very exciting things lined up. It’s time to take our music down different directions and really explore other avenues.” Check back for more Coldplay updates and listen to the new song below.
Exciting news for Coldplay fans was announced today! With a new album in the works the band has announced their 2nd live U.S. performance of 2011. Coldplay will perform at the 2011 Austin City Limits Festival in Austin, Texas this September. The band will headline on Friday 9/16 (the first night of the 3 day event). The band previously announced a gig at the 2011 Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago this coming August.
Coldplay must have caught the festival bug as Austin City Limits is just one of several festivals the band will play in 2011. This show joins festivals taking place in German, UK, Japan and Australia to name a few.
Stay tuned Coldplay fans. The band is currently in the studio recording their fifth full-length album, scheduling frequent sessions with producers Brian Eno and Markus Dravs. An estimated time of release and a name for the new project have yet to be determined.
Sources have said that the album could drop in stores anywhere between this October to early next year. Frontman Chris Martin told BBC’s Radio 1 that people can expect a “thinly veiled account of what happens within the group. It’s supposed to be about life, the food stuff and the bad stuff, everything.”
Coldplay is scheduled to headline the 2011 Glastonbury Festival alongside U2 and Beyonce, which is set to take place in Worthy Farm, Pilton, UK June 22-26. They will also be featured headliners at this year’s Oxygen festival in Punchestown, Co Kildare, Ireland. The July 8-10 event will also include The Strokes, Deadmau5, The National, and The Script.
